With about 200,000 inhabitants, Turku is one of Finland’s biggest cities. There are two universities and four university of applied sciences operating in Turku. All campuses are located near city center.
Getting around is easy
In Turku moving around is easy thanks to a local transport system called “Föli”. Distances from place to place, including campuses and student housing locations, are short and traffic design favors bikes. Students can take advantage of the Föli’s student prices.
Turku has also a city bike-share system, which is part of Föli. “Föli-fillarit” city bikes provide a quick and easy way of getting around the city centre and are meant mainly for short-term use.
Many things in Turku are connected to the River Aura, which flows through the city. The riverside is packed full of cafés, restaurants and happy people, but it also offers secret picnic spots, tranquil nature and cycling opportunities. The Riverside is the right place to start exploring Turku.
In Finland, each university and UAS has its own student union. Student unions organize services like tutoring and provide a starting package service, as well as free-time activities like sports events, cultural excursions, parties and so on. One of the best ways of meeting other students in Turku is to join union events and activities.

You can join virtually any hobby in Turku. There are numerous sports halls, gyms, group exercise oppor-tunities and sports facilities available for reservation and the student prices are reasonable. Everything is close by, including nature. National parks, jogging and cycling tracks and the world’s most beautiful archipelago are all within the students’ reach.

Study in Turku -student fair welcomes new students to the city of Turku. The fair will be held on 30st of Aug 2018. In the event the city, associations, student unions and companies present their services to the new students. Save the date from your calendar – the detailed program will be published on August.
