The Student Village Foundation of Turku (TYS) rents, builds, renovates and maintains student and youth housing in Turku. TYS was founded in 1966 by the Student Union of Turku University. Part of Turku City Group and public procurements. Around 7 000 apartment places and around 4 700 apartments, of which 64 % studios.

TYS’s highest governing bodies are the Delegation and the Board. The Delegation has 48 members which represent various quarters. The Delegation annually confirms the budget, the strategy and the financial statement, as well as decides the actions for the annual report. The Delegation elects the Chairperson of the Board and Deputy Chairperson of the Board, and confirms the Managing Director.
The Board consist of 13 persons and the Board handles all matters concerning TYS. Seven board members are selected by the city of Turku, two members are selected by the Tenants’ Meeting (at the autumn meeting), as well as two members are selected by TYY (The Student Union of the University of Turku), two members are selected by other Student Unions. The board members are selected for a period of three years.
The highest official is the Managing Director with the Department Managers; Property Manager, Financial Manager and Housing Affairs Manager. The total number of employees is 22. See the contact information here.
The laws governing apartment rental as well as other laws and acts governing residency, construction and rental, directives given by the Council of State and housing fund concerning the choosing of residents and care of state-subsidised rental apartments, municipal ordinance and the internal directives and regulations of the corporation regulate the activities of the housing association.
