Environmental living consists not only of functional waste management but recycling and reasonable energy use as well. In addition to a receiver for burnable waste, the housing locations usually have receivers for bio waste, paper, metal, glass and cardboard. Lassila & Tikanoja handles the waste management for TYS housing locations.
Always put your waste in the bins designated in the sorting instructions and keep the bin lids closed. Unclean and overflowing waste bins constitute a health risk and also attract mice, rats and birds that spread waste and diseases. If the waste bins at your location are overflowing, notify the property services. Please note that incorrectly sorted waste causes additional waste management costs.
Large objects (e.g. furniture) must be taken to a recycling centre, waste management facility or other waste-receiving place. Furniture and other items too big for waste bins must not be left at waste shelters – reject items have to be removed from the shelters separately, which causes extra waste management costs. Extra costs can cause unnecessary pressure to raise rents in the long run.
