Each tenant will receive at least one key, and children of school age will also get their own keys. The key also gives you access to the shared areas for tenants. The key is personal and it must be used responsibly and carefully. If you lose your key, contact the tenants’ office immediately. Lost keys are charged according to the current price list for claims reserves, and we assess on a case by case basis whether the locks need to be changed or rekeyed. Changing or rekeying locks are charged from the tenant according to the current price list for claims reserves.
Many TYS locations already have an electronically programmable iloQ key system in use. Read more about how to use the iloQ keys here: iloq. In case an iloQ lock is damaged due to failing to follow the instructions (for example because a foreign object has been inserted into the lock), the repair costs will be charged from the tenant.
Moving in and picking up the keys
New tenants will receive their keys at the housing office on the first weekday of the month, starting from noon. You may also pick up your keys later. As you arrive to pick up your keys, have your ID with you and make sure that the deposit is paid.
In case the tenants moving out and moving in wish to exchange keys personally, we recommend finding out from the housing office who the person moving in is. Both must also sign the key release form using our electronic services. See here for more information. In PDF format: key release agreement.
If you have signed your lease in advance or electronically, you can also pick up the keys outside office hours. For more information about picking up the keys outside office hours, see here: TYS keys can also be picked up at the Caribia R-kioski.
As you move out of your apartment, the key(s) must be returned to the housing office. If you are returning the keys outside office hours, you can leave them in an envelope in the office mailbox. Please write down your name and the apartment’s address on the envelope.
You can fetch a spare key during office hours free of charge from the housing office, but be ready to provide proof of identity.
Unlocking doors outside office hours
Outside office hours ISS, tel. 020 515 9268, is the provider of door unlocking services. Unlocking doors is a paid service and ISS will charge for this according to their price list (a sum of 52.08€). The tenant must be able to verify their identity.
Move-out day and returning the keys
Keys are returned to the housing office by noon of the first business day of the month following the last month of tenancy. According to the law, the previous tenant must provide at least half of the apartment for the use of the new tenant at this point. The tenant moving out must return all keys to the office no later than on the next day after the move-out day – please note, however, that the new tenant moving in will receive their keys already on the first business day of the month at noon even if you have not yet returned all the keys. Please also remember to return, in addition to the apartment keys, all parking space, storage space, or tenant committee keys.
If you wish, you may also return your keys before your lease expires. If you return your keys before your lease expires, let us know when upon returning them if the keys – and at the same time – if use of the whole apartment can be given to the new tenant right away.
Outside office hours, you can return the keys together with your name and address in an envelope by leaving them in the office mailbox.
If keys are not returned in due time, rekeying the locks will be charged from the tenant moving out according to the current price list for claims reserves. If you are moving out and notice that some of the keys are missing, let the office know about this separately.
If you wish to give the keys directly to the next tenant, you can do this by using the key assignment agreement.
