If you are an exchange student you can’t use the degree student application form, as those applications are not considered for exchange student housing. If you are a double degree Master’s Student, this is considered as a degree student and you need to apply with the normal application form. If you are arriving to do an internship or other temporary stay than official exchange student studies, please use the normal application form.
Every exchange student needs to fill in one individual housing application. If you wish to change some information on your application, you can do that by logging in to the Tenant Pages with the username and password delivered to you after submitting the application. Do not fill in another application form, if you do not manage to edit your application by yourself please contact the rental services for help.

Start page on the application form
Please select if you applying as an individual applicant or if you are coming with a spouse.
If you wish to stay with a friend, both should fill in an individual housing application and write friends name and additional wishes to the application form’s comment field (on the 3rd page of the application form). Also if you have special remarks concerning housing, for example medical reasons, please write these on the application form’s comment field.
Starting and end date options
The starting date options will show on the application form and these will be updated automatically when a new application period starts (please note that it is possible to apply housing only 3 months before). Please note that a rent agreement always starts on the first day of the month and end on the last day of the month and are made for full semesters only. For exchange students the rental agreements are always made as a fixed-term contracts (referring to the full semester times).
Applicant’s information page
Please mark your personal information carefully. Write your name on the same form that is given to the arrival university so when can match the applicant from the lists provided by the arrival universities.
Make sure that your email is written correctly as all the information, and for example the possible housing offer, are sent via email. If you don’t see emails from TYS, please check also your email’s trash inbox and mark TYS as a safe email contact.
Housing location page
For exchange students there are two housing options, and you can make a preferation. Please note that this chosen option can’t be guaranteed and when receiving the possible housing offer you have to carefully read what kind of housing you have been offered for, as there are only a limited number of each rooms. On this page you can also find the additional comment field for different wishes considering your housing.
If you want to submit additional attachments, for example about medical reasons etc. concerning housing, on this page it is possible but not obligatory. Exchange students do not normally need to submit any attachments.
On this page you can submit the application. Please note that you have to click “I agree to the terms.” before the options for sending the application shows.
After submitting a housing application successfully you will get a password and username to the system via email. If you don’t receive this email or with any other problems in the application/tenant page, please contact email@example.com.
Please note that by filling a housing application it does not mean a reservation and your housing application will be added to the housing queue. See here for the next steps.
