The application and offer process
1. Filling in the application 3 months before you need the apartment
2. Processing the application and requesting possible additional clarifications, please check your email
3. Application is moved into the queue
4. Possible offer is made about 4-6 weeks before you need the apartment
5. Confirming the offer on the tenant pages and paying the deposit
6. Signing the new agreement and paying rent
7. Moving in to the new apartment
General information of applying for an apartment
Leases are always made for entire calendar months, so the starting date is always the first day of the month and the ending date is always the last day of the month. The rental agreement is valid until further notice or for a fixed period of time. Read more about tenancy periods. An office fee of 60 € will be charged for all agreements that are valid for less than 12 months and defined for a fixed-term period. Read more about charges.
The application can be filled in three months before you need the apartment. Note: in the autumn (August-September), available apartments are reserved for new students starting their studies.
Those already living in a TYS apartment can apply for a transfer to another apartment, read more here. Please note that the transfer charge is 34 €.
Submit only one application per applicant/couple/family. Select the houses you are interested in and the apartment types that are suited to your needs. In your application, you may select five different apartment types + apartments (NB. Only apartments that are over 35 m2 can accommodate more than one person). The applicant can edit these selections later on the tenant pages using the provided personal credentials. You will receive these credentials in your email right after submitting the application. In case you do not receive the credentials, check your Spam folder first. If you haven’t received the credentials, please contact the rental services. Please do not fill in a new application.
The housing application is valid for three months. As the application expiry date approaches, you will receive a notification and can renew your application using your credentials. For those applying for an internal transfer, the application is valid for as long as they live in TYS or until they are offered an apartment.
If you wish be kept in the queue after your application expires or after rejecting an offer, please contact the rental services. If your personal needs change and you no longer require an apartment, please remove your application from the queue.
