THE RULES AND REGULATIONS OF TYS

I GENERAL TIDINESS AND ORDER
1 §
Loud noise and the loud use of instruments, radios, record players, television and household appliances and the loud running of water are forbidden in the apartments and on the residential area between 11PM and 6AM.
2 §
TYS should be informed about the keeping of a pet. Remember this when moving into an apartment with a pet or when you are buying one. Pets should not cause disturbance in the apartments or on the residential area. Pets should be kept on leash at all times in the corridors and on the residential area. Dogs and cats should not be taken out on areas reserved to children or on areas frequently used by children. This does not apply to guide dogs. It is forbidden to keep a pet in the cell and commune apartments

Driving a motor vehicle and parking on the residential area is forbidden unless you have a special permit sign from the lodger's office. The permit sign should be set on a visible place on the windshield of the car. Motor vehicles should always be parked on areas reserved for that purpose. Driving on the yard can temporarily be allowed during moving or for other weighty reasons. Biking and skateboarding are allowed if they do not endanger other users of the area.
II COMMON ROOMS
4 §
The outer doors of the houses are kept locked between 9PM and 6AM. In the Student village the doors between the houses should always be kept locked. During summer, Christmas and school holidays the lodgers will be informed about the possible differing locking of the doors.
5 §
The common rooms should be kept tidy. The other users of the rooms should not be disturbed. The common rooms should be kept locked at all times. Unauthorized and disturbingly behaving people should be prevented entering to the common rooms. If this is not possible without endangering your own safety call the police, the repair man on duty or the security company - depending on the situation. The common rooms should be cleaned after use. Smoking is forbidden in the common rooms.
III CLEANING AND THE PROCESSING OF WASTE

Common rooms are cleaned by TYS. The common areas of the cell apartments are on the lodgers' responsibility. Storing furniture in the common areas is forbidden.
7 §
The inhabitants should sort out paper from other waste and take it to the paper collection boxes. If there are composts on the area then organic waste must be sorted out from unorganic and taken to the composts. Other waste, not including hazardous waste, must be taken to the waste containers. The normal regulations on the handling of hazardous waste must be followed.
8 §
Dusting carpets and bedclothes is allowed only on the airing racks and in the Student village on the balconies meant for the purpose.
IV THE HEATING PLACES OF CARS
9 §
Parking spaces with heating poles can be reserved for all residential areas from the TYS office.
V THE SAUNAS AND LAUNDRY
10 §
The saunas are reserved through the Internet at www.tys.fi . The reservation fee is charged afterwards. The bathers are responsible for the condition of the sauna at the end of their reservation. The reservation of the washing machines is done on the lists or boards in the laundries. Do not book the washing machine for a longer period than you estimate you will need it. If the washing machine is not taken to use within 15 minutes of the start of the reserved time, it can be taken to use by someone else for the reserved period. Dry laundry must be collected out of the drying room.
VI THE STORAGE OF GOODS
11 §
Bikes, prams and sports equipment must be kept in the rooms meant for them. TYS and Vuokralaisyhdistys (The lodgers' organization) have a right to move equipment left in the wrong place to the proper areas.
VII ORDER IN THE APARTMENTS
12 §
In the cell and commune apartments the inhabitants should not disturb others. The inhabitant is also responsible for disturbance and damage caused by his visitors, unless he has taken measures to prevent them. Smoking is forbidden at all TYS locations, inside the flats as well as in all common areas (staircases, lifts, basements, common rooms, saunas and washrooms).
If the apartment has a jute wall or a wooden lath for hanging up paintings, it should be used for this purpose. The lodger is responsible for damages made by the improper attachment of hooks. The use of glue or adhesive tape on the walls or on the doors is forbidden.
VII FAULTS AND DEFECTS
13 §
Faults and defects in the apartments or in the residential area should be made known through a deficiency notification. The notification can be made at the TYS web site www.tys.fi or with the computers at the housing office.
