Filling a housing application

Students can apply for housing throughout the year. In August and September only new students can apply for apartments. 

Only fill one application per person/family! It is possible to apply three months before the need for accommodation. Application form is submitted via TYSKampus system.  Degree students need to have a certificate of their studies in Turku, for example the admission letter from the arrival university. Please send this to us (info@tys.fi) as soon as you have applied for an accommodation.

If you want you can modify your application later on with your username and password in TYSKampus-system. You will receive the username and password to your email after submitting the application form successfully. Username and password are like an electrical signature, for example when you accept the housing offer.

Choosing apartments to the application form

It's possible to add 5 different housing types/apartments to the application form. Applicant can modify these option later on with the username and password in TYSKampus system. See more about the apartments from: Flats-Degree Students

We recommend using the apartment type button rather than individual apartments which appear free in the application. This is because the information about free apartments isn’t real-time. 

Please note! For Henrikki can only apply via intern transfer (persons aho are already living in TYS apartments). Kiertotähti is only for youth applicants. Both youth applicants and students can apply for Ironside. 

Lease period

All leases are made for full months, meaning that the lease will start from the first day of the month and end on the last day of the month. The lease is made either for continual or for a fixed-term. The fixed-term leases that are made under 12 months will have an additional office fee of 60 €, it will be added to the first rent invoice. 

Information about the applicant/applicants

Please remember to fill all the information asked in the application form clearly and accurately. It is important to fill also partner's and children's information if they are moving with you. Please make sure that the email address that you give in the application form is working as we will contact you via email.

You don't need to send a separate atachments about the income and assets if not asked. You just mark your own estimate about your income during your studies. The monthly income means study grant plus other possible income per month (total amount before reducing taxes etc.). The applicant agrees to give information about incomes, assets and taxes if needed.

The information about assets and income are part of the tenant selection and can be taken into consideration when TYS selects tenants. If there are multiple housing applicants with the same kind of needs of an accommodation, the applicant with lower income and assets can be prioritized when apartments are offered. 

Additional information

In the end of the application form you will find a comment box where you can inform us if the area of housing isn’t that significant or other information related to the application.

Internal applicants

Tenants who already live in TYS apartments and want to apply for another apartment should fill an application of internal change via TYSKampus. Tenant logs in with his/hers username and password and chooses Applications and Add new. Please note that the office fee for internal change is 34 €.  

The validity of the housing application

Housing applications are valid for 3 months. If an applicant wants to stay on the queue after this time they have to extend their application via TYSKampus. The application for internal change is valid as long as the applicant lives in TYS or will be offered an apartment. If you wish to stay on the housing queue after the application is expired or you have rejected an offer, please contact the Housing Office. If you don't need an apartment anymore please delete your application via TYSKampus.
