INFORMATION FOR DEGREE STUDENTS

APPLICATION PROCESS
Students can apply for housing throughout the year. In August and September only new students can apply for apartments. It is possible to apply three months before the need for accommodation. Degree students need to have a certificate of their studies in Turku, for example the admission letter from the arrival university. Please send this to us (info@tys.fi) as soon as you have applied for an accommodation.
Application form can be filler under Renting a Flat > Application Form - Degree Student. Only fill one application per person/family! If you want you can modify your application later on with your username and password to TysKampus-system. You will receive these to your email after sending the application successfully. Username and password are like an electrical signature, for example when you accept the housing offer.
If there are no flats available that are matching the wishes, applicants will be placed on a waiting list. Applications are valid for 3 months. If an applicant wants to stay on the queu after this they have to extend their applications in TysKampus. If an applicant decides not to take the flat, the reservation must be cancelled before the due date. After rejecting a housing offer the application drops out from the queue. Please contact the housing office if you want to be put back to the queue or have other problems with the application process.
We recommend choosing apartment types rather than exact apartments which appear free in the application. This is because the information about free apartments isn’t real-time. For Henrikki can only apply persons already living in TYS apartments. Kiertotähti is only for youth applicants. Both youth applicants and students can apply for Ironside.
When filling the application please be careful and fill in all the necessary information. In the end of the application you will find a comment box where you can inform us if the area of housing isn’t that significant or other information related to the application. If you don't need an apartment any more please remember to cancel your application.
Please note, confirmed housing offer means rental agreement. Tenant is obliged to pay the rent from the noticing month in case of sudden cancellation. If not, the Student Village Foundation of Turku will not refund the security deposit. The official time to give a notice to terminate the rental agreement is one full calendar month regardless of moving dates. You can see the finnish legislation concerning the renting of an apartment here.
If you have any problems filling the application please contact the housing office. Tel. 02-275 0200 or info@tys.fi.
APPLICATION OF INTERNAL CHANGE
Tenants who already live in TYS apartments and want to apply for another apartment should fill an application of internal change in TysKampus. Tenant logs in with his/hers username and password and chooses Applications and Add new.
Application of internal change is valid as long the tenant lives in TYS or gets a housing offer. After rejecting a housing offer the application drops out from the queue. Please contact the housing office if you want to be put back to the queue or have other problems with the application process.
